ZEC+ Beta Alanine is a precursor to Nitric Oxide NO. It is particularly popular with fitness and endurance athletes before and after exercise. Beta-alanine is a biogenic amine of the amino acid asparagine or aspartic acid. It is considered a non-essential amino acid, so it is imperative to get it in the diet or in supplement form to get the desired effect.

Beta-alanine influences the increase of carnosine in the muscles, which prevents the formation of hydrogen ions, which lower the pH in the muscles. Low pH causes premature muscle fatigue. The addition of beta-alanine contributes to increased performance and endurance and prevents premature muscle fatigue.

During short and intense loads, muscles mainly use glucose as an energy source, which leads to the formation of lactic acid. Lactic acid breaks down into lactate and hydrogen ions (H+). Lactic acid is not the only cause of muscle acidosis. The overacidification of the muscles is largely due to the accumulation of hydrogen ions H+. With the help of carnosine, which is stored in the skeletal muscles, the muscle can first neutralize hydrogen ions. During prolonged and intensive training, the carnosine stores are used up, which leads to the accumulation of hydrogen ions, which the muscles can no longer neutralize. There is reduced power production and muscle fatigue, which leads to a loss of performance.

Research has shown that long-term intake of beta-alanine increases carnosine stores in muscle. The addition of beta-alanine has a performance-enhancing effect, especially during short, high-intensity workouts of 30 seconds to 10 minutes. A daily dose of between 3-6 g of beta-alanine is sufficient to increase performance, which must be taken for at least 4 to 8 weeks. However, we recommend taking Beta Alanine for at least 10 to 12 weeks for the best effect. Long-term use of beta-alanine also improves endurance.
