Why do we need energy gels?
Energy gels are the most popular nutritional supplement among cyclists, runners, triathletes and other endurance athletes. They contain a large amount of energy-rich carbohydrates in a small package. When we exercise, we absolutely need carbohydrates as a source of energy because our body's carbohydrate reserves are limited. The body has its own carbohydrate reserves in the form of muscle and liver glycogen. However, glycogen stores are not unlimited. For medium to high intensity exercises we will use them in 90-120 minutes. The depletion of glycogen stores has many negative consequences for the athlete. This results in loss of performance and endurance, premature muscle fatigue or exhaustion, and muscle cramps.
Taking energy gels regularly during training or competition is crucial for maintaining performance. Glycogen stores cannot be replenished during activity, but it is important not to deplete them too completely, otherwise we will lack energy when we need it most. Energy gels provide a quick supply of energy, allowing us to exert ourselves intensively even after several hours.
With our energy gels you get energy quickly and efficiently whenever you need it. The use of advanced carbohydrate matrices (maltodextrin/glucose and fructose) allows the absorption of 90 to 150 g of carbohydrates per hour without digestive problems. Some gels already contain added water, so they do not require additional water when consumed.
What do the highest quality energy gels contain?
The highest quality energy gels contain a combination of two or more carbohydrate sources. Glucose intake is limited to 60–70 g of carbohydrates per hour. The addition of fructose makes it possible to consume 90 to 150 g of carbohydrates per hour. Additionally, combining two carbohydrate sources reduces the risk of developing stomach or digestive problems.
There are gels with a classic ratio of maltodextrin or glucose and fructose of 2:1, which allow the intake of 90 to 120 g of carbohydrates per hour, and gels with advanced carbohydrate ratios of 1:0.8 and 1:1. These allow you to consume up to 150 g of carbohydrates per hour. To top it off, we also offer gels with caffeine to provide an extra source of energy when you need it most. The gels also contain all the essential electrolytes that are lost through sweating during training and need to be replaced.
High-quality energy gels also carry the Informed Sport label, which ensures that each batch of products is tested and free of banned substances. This is especially important for professional athletes. High-quality energy gels also contain no artificial additives - colors, sweeteners and flavors that could cause stomach or digestive problems.
Amacx energy gels
Amacx has two product lines, the Energy Line and the Turbo Line. Energy Line is aimed at the general population, recreational athletes, but also at top athletes. Drink Gel is an energy gel from Energy Line that contains 30 g of carbohydrates from maltodextrin and fructose in a 2:1 ratio. It allows you to consume at least 90g of carbohydrates per hour without stomach discomfort. 200 mg of sodium supports hydration and fluid absorption during exercise. In addition, Drink Gel contains no artificial colors, sweeteners or flavors.
Amacx Turbo Gel contains 40 g of carbohydrates from maltodextrin and fructose in a ratio of 1:0.8. Turbo Gels are intended for recreational users and all professional athletes as they allow a high carbohydrate intake of 120 to 150 g per hour. It is characterized by mild and natural aromas. They contain no artificial colors, sweeteners or flavors.
The difference between Drink Gel and Turbo Gel lies in the carbohydrate content, the ratio between maltodextrin and fructose and the sodium content. Turbo Gel does not contain sodium. Both gels are ready to drink and require no additional water. They are characterized by a liquid consistency. The gels are not thick, making them easy to take even at high intensity.
Energy Gels by 6d Sports Nutrition
Energy Gel 6d contains 30 g of carbohydrates from maltodextrin and fructose in a ratio of 2:1 and 200 mg of sodium. The energy gel allows you to absorb at least 90 g of carbohydrates per hour without stomach discomfort. It is characterized by a thicker consistency, so it is recommended to drink some water when taking it. Due to its small volume (40ml), it is very easy to consume regardless of the thicker consistency.
Isogel 6d contains 20 g of carbohydrates from maltodextrin. Maltodextrin is a complex carbohydrate source that, due to its molecular weight, is absorbed extremely quickly and does not burden the stomach. Isogel allows the intake of up to 60g of carbohydrates and is particularly suitable for low to moderate intensity activities that do not require high carbohydrate intake. Due to their liquid consistency, they do not require water when consumed.
Ultra Gel is an extremely advanced energy gel that contains up to 45g of carbohydrates from maltodextrin and fructose in a 1:1 ratio. It is designed for the most demanding recreational and professional athletes as it allows the intake of 120 to 150g of carbohydrates per hour. Their consistency is medium liquid, meaning they are not too thick to be difficult to consume at high intensity.
226ers energy gels
226ers has advanced energy gels in its range, namely Isotonic Gel, High Energy Gel and High Fructose Gel. Isotonic gel contains 22 g of carbohydrates from cyclic dextrin. Cyclic dextrin is an extremely high-quality carbohydrate source that provides long-term energy supply and does not burden the stomach. Isotonic Gel is characterized by its liquid consistency and mild, unsweetened flavors, as cyclic dextrin is tasteless. You do not need any additional water when consumed.
High Energy Gel contains 50 g of carbohydrates in a 1:1 ratio of complex and simple carbohydrates from a mixture of maltodextrin, cyclic dextrin and glucose syrup and sucrose. High Energy Gel has a thicker consistency and a mild taste. Despite the high amount of carbohydrates, it is not sweet due to the high cyclic dextrin content. High Fructose Gel contains up to 55 g of carbohydrates from maltodextrin and fructose in a ratio of 1:0.8. It provides an extremely quick supply of energy and does not put strain on the stomach. Due to the high carbohydrate content, they have a thicker consistency.

Maurten energy gels
Maurten energy gels are characterized by an extremely advanced and innovative bipolar matrix between maltodextrin and fructose in a ratio of 1:0.8. They are made with innovative hydrogel technology, which does not burden the stomach and allows for high carbohydrate absorption. This allows the carbohydrates to be transported quickly through the stomach into the intestines, where the hydrogel dissolves and the body absorbs salt and carbohydrates. Gel 100 contains 25g of carbohydrates and the newest Gel 160 even contains 40g of carbohydrates.

The advantage of the energy gel PF 90 is the practical packaging with a stopper, which allows it to be consumed multiple times. Precision Hydration energy gels have a neutral taste. They are characterized by a thicker consistency but are very easy to consume because their texture is well thought out and reduces stickiness in the mouth, eliminating the need to drink additional water.
